Clam Up Zippered Pouches

Easy and fun to make, these bags in five sizes are perfect for storing and carrying make-up, sewing supplies, tech gear, and more.  For this class, we will be focusing on making the Large (L): 4⅞"H x 6½"W x 4⅝"D sized bag.

The pattern includes complete step-by-step instructions for making the bags with or without quilted fabric and for adding optional iron-on vinyl laminate to make the inside easy to wipe clean.

Double-slide zippers and handy grab tabs make the bags easy to open wide and attached side panels prevent contents from falling out. An optional strap with swivel hook may also be added.

When empty, the bags nest inside one another to save space.

Finished sizes of bags are as follows:
Extra Small (XS): 2¾"H x 3½"W x 2⅝"D
Small (S): 3½"H x 4½"W x 3⅜"D
Medium (M): 4¼"H x 5½"W x 4"D
Large (L): 4⅞"H x 6½"W x 4⅝"D
Extra Large (XL): 5½"H x 7½"W x 5"D

ByAnnie Zipper with double head for ease of installation in coordinated color of fabric...20" or more.
Thread to match zipper tape color and color for desired fabric topstitching.
Zipper and Zigzag Feet
Wonder Clips for zipper install; straight pins for "sandwiching" the three layers, and two safety pins.
Permanent Sharpie marker to trace around pattern.
Small ruler for cutting binding for ends of 2.75" width.
Utility scissors to cut zipper and Soft & Stable.
Suggested Tools: ByAnnie stiletto for zipper installation control, template plastic for creating reusable patterns, and a "seam jumper" tool for better maneuvering the binding on the side seams.

Instructor: Elizabeth "Ebbie" Hoitt
Instructor Bio: Ebbie has had a quilter's heart ever since her move to California from Indiana in 1987. She took a road trip to Morro Bay and fell in love with fabric while visiting a local quilt shop. She has piece quilted on and off over the years for friends and family and at the births of her granddaughters, Gianna and Ava. She was reawakened to the process in 2021 after Covid, when she was on yet another road trip to Texas where a friend invited her into her sewing studio. It lit the fire for the process once again. As a member of the El Camino Quilt guild, a new friend who loves bag making showed me the process. Some 30+ bags later Ebbie is sharing that process and her new addiction to fabric selections for ByAnnie's Clam Up bags with you. Hope you will join me on this journey in the upcoming class.
