Rope Trivet & Bowl Making
Here’s a fun break from your regular sewing. Learn to make rope trivets and bowls. Using cotton cord, thread and some fabric learn the basics of this popular craft. You will make a trivet or coaster and a bowl. If time permits Michelle will show you some advanced techniques as well.

| Skill Details: | Open to all skill levels. Must have working knowledge of your sewing machine. |
| Requirements: | Supplies Needed: Sewing Machine in good working order that does a zigzag stitch -- you must know how to use your machine and how to set to this stitch. An extension table for your machine would be helpful. Scissors Assorted 1" strips of fabric 100' of 1/4" (or 3/16") Cotton rope (for stiff projects you need rope that has nylon core) Cotton Thread - 40 or 50 wt, we recommend anything other than white or beige, so it can be seen while learning. Variegated thread such as King Tut or YLI is fun to work with. (Polyester thread will melt if trivets are used for hot items) Jeans/Denim needles, size 14 or 16 Open toe applique foot Recommended book: Zig Zag Rope Sewing Projects Lunch and/or snack *** Supplies can be purchased at the quilt shop *** |

| Instructor Bio: | Michelle started sewing at the age of 5. Taught by their mother, she and her sisters learned how to sew on an industrial upholstery machine. She has since explored and taught many art mediums including pottery, beading, silversmithing, quilting, pine needle sculpting to name a few. |
