Beginner's Quilting Class
During this 5-week class you will be making a 9-block quilt top with sashing and borders. This is a 5 week class with homework.
We will begin by walking you through all of the gizmos and gadgets out there for quilting and sewing. You will learn which ones are necessary and helpful and learn how to use them. You will learn how to select fabrics to best suit your taste and pattern.
After making your blocks, you will add sashing, and borders. Follow-up classes will be offered for “How To Quilt Your Quilt Top Using Your Domestic Machine” and “Attach Binding."

Sewing machine in good working order (w/manual and parts) Bobbins for your sewing machine 1/4" foot for your sewing machine (required) Rulers: 12.5" X 12.5" square ruler (for squaring up blocks) Cutting Mat (18" X 24") - you will have access to the Cottage's large cutting mats 45mm Rotary Cutter w/extra blades Sewing Machine needles Glasshead Quilter's Pins Seam Ripper Scissors Thread for sewing machine Fabric Marking Pen / Pencil Measuring Tape Zip Loc Bags (Quart Size) for organizing fabric Notebook / Post It Notes for note taking in class Travel / Mini Iron and Ironing Mat - you will have access to the Cottage's irons and ironing boards Fabric Requirements: Fat Quarter Bundle (at least 15 fat quarters) 2 - 3 Yards of background fabric 3 3/8 Yards for Backing 60" Square of Batting (throw size) **Most of these supplies are available for purchase at the Cottage. It is NOT necessary to have all of the supplies ahead of time; Wendy will walk you through the supply list on the first day of class.** |

| Instructor Bio: | During her 23 years of quilting, Wendy has learned lots of tips and tricks for quilting to share with new beginners and seasoned quilters alike. Wendy taught her 21 year old son to quilt when he was 12 years old. He has put 3 quilts in shows through the years. |
